What does a Texas state representative do?
Members of the Texas House represent their district in the Texas Legislature. Along with the Texas Senate, the House considers legislation and resolutions, considers proposed constitutional amendments, and appropriates funds for state government.
Texas has 150 House members, each elected to a two-year term. During which they are responsible for the following:
Legislation
Introduces, evaluates, amends and votes on state legislation.
State Budget
Participates in decisions about appropriations and the operation of Texas government.
Constituent Representation
Represents district residents and communicates district concerns within state government.
